Casanova opened in 2005 with the idea of bringing to Cardiff traditional Italian food blended with modern techniques. The emphasis is on top quality ingredients, many of which are imported directly from small producers all over Italy. The rest is sourced locally. Casanova is the only Italian restaurant in Wales to have an entry in both the Good Food Guide and the Michelin Guide.
The team at Casanova is formed by long serving members of staff.
Antonio Cersosimo is our Calabrian chef Patron, born in the village of Francavilla Marittima between the Ionian sea and the Pollino national park. He grew up in Milan. He cooks with passion and food is usually at the forefront of his mind. His style of cooking is rustic Italian, reflecting his dual upbringing by offering traditional dishes of both Northern and Southern Italy, taking influences from the sea and the land.
Luca Montuori is our wine expert. He is a typically passionate Italian from Naples. He came to Cardiff many a year ago to pursue his tertiary studies at Cardiff University, while studying he began learning the restaurant trade.
Luca has worked in every department in the industry but now concentrates on all aspects of wine. He discharges his duties tirelessly by visiting the vineyards throughout the wine growing regions of Italy, leaving no stone unturned to source the very best wines his homeland has to offer. His vast knowledge of Italian wines is unrivalled and is made available to all Casanova customers upon request.
